Ariel + Senior (Outside the box)

Fri November 7th, 2008 High School Seniors

So a few weeks ago I had the pleasure of shooting a great girl, Ariel. She was a trooper…let me tell ya!! So, John McCain happened to visit our wonderful town and in doing so created the worst traffic jam our city has seen all year! So, as we are driving (okay sitting) in traffic I’m watching my light slowly go down, down, down. So, I did what any other crazy photographer would do. I pulled off on the side of the road and said, we are going to have to shoot right here. So we did, and let me tell you, she pulled it off!

Um…hello beautiful…

Why can’t I have eyes like this…

Off the side of the road…DON’T MAKE ME work it out!!

The next series…4000 ISO. P.S. Nikon D3…I love you.

Car headlights…check. One amazing girl…CHECK CHECK!!

Ariel, thank you for having so much fun with me on your shoot. I’m so happy you picked me!! :)

Hugs,

Heather

The best birthday EVER!

Tue November 4th, 2008 Announcements, Personal

So, yesterday as most of you know, I took the day off to enjoy my birthday. My hubby unfortunately had to leave out of town yesterday so I found myself all alone on the night of my 30th birthday. That was until….I drove up to my house (after trying to keep myself busy for a few hours with Olivia) to find the BEST PRESENT EVER! What might that be????? Um, yes, Bobbi. In the FLESH, my Bobbi. In my drive way, Bobbi. AYKM??? She flew in that afternoon to surprise me and boy was I ever surprised! Have I mentioned…..it was the best birthday EVER!!!

So…I’m thirty, my BFF is in town, and guess what, I have a standing appointment with my hair stylist to “change my life” (okay I know I can be dramatic) it couldn’t be any better!!! Of course after my new look, Bobbi and I had to do a quick photo shoot to show off my new locks. I’ll be honest, I loved it at first. Then I went to…. oh my god…this is soooo red. Do I look okay? No I love it!!! Um….am I to dark? Can I pull this off?? By the end of the day, I’ve come to love my new look and the outlook it has given me (even though I was a bit drama about it all day…sorry to all of those involved). Hee hee.

So here’s a few fab pix that my love, Bobbi, took. You likey??

So what do you think? Blonde or brunette???

30 is fun!! :)

Today I’m the big 3-0hhhh my gosh!

Mon November 3rd, 2008 Announcements, Personal

Today is my birthday and I woke up this morning realizing my twenties are gone…. wow, time REALLY FLIES!! In my twenties,  I got married, had a child, lost my father to cancer, started my business, bought two houses, and a studio..wow…it’s amazing what can happen in ten years. I can’t even wait to see what I do in my thirties!!!  Thirty is going to be amazing, cause not only am I going to be 30, but I’m also going to change my entire life this year. It’s going to be a good year. :)

So..with that, If anyone is trying to get a hold of me today, I’m outty 5000! I’m going to take the day off. Yep you heard it. Normally, I never take a day off, EVER! I always check emails, or do this or that, but today. I’m going to actually TAKE OFF THE DAY! So if you need me, I’ll holla back at you tomorrow. I’m going SHOPPIN, to lunch with a good friend and then dinner…who knows…I’m 30, I’m crazy!!

Last but not least, thanks to one of my best friends in the WHOLE WORLD, Bobbi, for wishing me happy birthday today on her blog. I woke up this morning and saw that and was in tears. I love her SOOO much.

I MISS YOU!

Before I go…I also want you to head on over to Aaron’s blog. He, my husband, and a group of other guys went hiking in Moab, Utah this summer and he just blogged about it and it’s so cool!

Hugs,

Heather

So, I know it’s been a while since I’ve blogged but let me tell you. SOOO much has been going on, the next few weeks you are all going to be on HEATHER COLE PHOTOGRAPHY OVERLOAD! So beware!!

I have so much stuff to blog, it’s seriously RIDIC!!

McKenzie’s senior pictures!

Zack’s portraits!

Tie, Jen and Owen’s family pictures!

Jarrett, Michelle, Joseph & Katie’s family pictures!

Casey, Carrie, Sophie and Eve’s family pictures!

Matt, Amber, Landen and Miles’ family pictures!

Seriously people, between shooting, designing albums, editing…it’s been a busy, busy week.

On a personal note, despite my crazy schedule I have taken time out for number one…ME!! So this week, on my personal journey to success, I hired a personal trainer and Tabitha has ROCKED MY WORLD! That woman is so amazing and if anyone is looking for a WONDERFUL, AFFORDABLE, personal trainer, I would highly recommend her. This woman has made me hurt in places I didn’t know existed! I’m also happy to announce that I’ve lost 3 pounds this week! Which makes me happy. So, not only has my energy level sky rocketed, I’m also losing weight. WHOO HO!!! I needed this week since last week, I didn’t lose any. Go check out Bobbi and see how she did this week. I’m so proud of her. Every time I talk to her she either is on her way to the gym, or just got home from the gym. She’s AMAZING!!

Last but not least…today is Halloween!! Yippee!! Last night we had a fun night of Pumpkin carving and Olivia got to go Trick or Treating at Daddy’s work, so we got all dressed up and of course, I had to take some pictures. I think she makes a pretty darn good Alice in Wonderland. Don’t you??

I think we out did ourselves! Can you guess the one I carved??

So from our family to yours, have a safe and Happy Halloween. I hope it’s very…. UM…… well….

MEOW!

Hugs,

Heather

Sarah and Cory + The Main Event (Destination Wedding)

Tue October 21st, 2008 Wedding Day

Where do I even begin with this wedding!!! Wow!!

Sarah and Cory’s wedding was different than any other wedding I’ve shot this year. One, because it was in ARIZONA (HELL YEAH) but more importantly, I’ve known Sarah since we were in SECOND GRADE! We lived up the street from each other most of our lives and if you would have told me twenty some years ago I would be photographing her wedding, I wouldn’t have believed you. But there I was, in this beautiful resort, watching one of my best friends get married and was able to photographer it for her. IT was AMAZING! I also pulled triple duty and did her hair, her maid of honor’s hair, her makeup and you guessed it…HER PICTURES! Boooyeahh!!! Seriously, there were SOOO many pictures to choose from so I tried to narrow down to just a “few” that I wanted to share. :)

The shoes…seriously amazing!

Her dad was so happy that day. I think this is one of the FEW pictures I got of him not crying. :)

Sarah is simply STUNNING. Sorry, but I went OTT on some bridal portraits. :)

I was always so jealous of her OVER THE TOP amazing eyes. :)

I fell in love with each of her girls. They are SOOO awesome. :)

Her flowers were sooo pretty. :)

You funny Heather…you funny……

Lord, I’m not mad at you for making him so good lookin. Not mad at all.

One word. Yum.

I love this shot of Sarah and her mom before she walked down the aisle. :)

LOVE THIS KISSING SHOT!! :)

HUSBAND AND WIFE! YYYYYEEEAAAHH!!!

Her dress was so big, she had to have the coordinator help her up the stairs! Ha ha. :)

Soo happy.

This gives me goose bumps.

Cactus, CHECK! Moon, CHECK! Hot bride and groom - DOUBLE CHECK!! I love Arizona!! AHHH!

LOOOVE THIS SHOT!! Steve (my brother from another mother) on the left takes the cake for the SWEETEST JUMP! Billie (not my brother but still a nice guy - far right) high five for managing to jump with a drink in your hand, Ted the duck in the other and still look awesome!

The rest of ya….Props for being so awesome and having fun with me. LOVE YOU ALL!

The decorations on the inside were SOOO pretty.

Some photobooth lovin….

I didn’t have fun in the photo booth at all. Matter of fact, it sucked. Sucked so bad I went over and over again!

Night fell fast and I wanted to experiment with some cool lighting. I did this all with natural light given and my camera. No extra lights, no tripod. If you have a bride and groom willing….always see if you can experiment!!!

Sarah…you are sooo beautiful.

MEOW!

LOVE THIS SHOT!!

The band was amazing and throughout the night…everyone took a turn to sing a few songs!

So…there is a HUGE story about this duck (who is referred to as Ted). Let’s just say, he was a major part of the whole wedding experience and because of that, I thought there would be no better way to showcase the rings, than on Ted.

Sarah and Cory, how can I even begin to thank you for asking ME to photograph your wedding. Cory, I love you with all my heart. The first time I met you, I knew you were the one for Sarah. You have brought so much happiness to her life and I love you for that. Sarah, being such a big part of your day was awesome. I must admit, the thought of doing hair, makeup and photography was a bit scary but being with you all day, and doing that was SOO awesome. I got to share every moment with you and I will cherish that forever. I love you so much and I can’t wait for the next twenty plus years of our lives. Congratulations on finding the love of your life. I’m so happy for you. LOVE YOU!!
